Archaeology Awards
November 2004:
We were honoured to be awarded two prestigious Archaeology Awards
when Mellor was selected as a finalist in the Pitt-Rivers Community Award in the
British Archaeology Awards.
November 2006:
We were awarded runners up in the
Channel 4 Archaeological Awards ICT category for the best CD, website or multimedia package on archaeology produced in the previous 2 years.
May 2008:
The
Trust was Joint Winner of The CBA Marsh Award for
Community Archaeology, as four projects were declared joint winners and each given a cheque for £500 to support their work. Ann and John were presented with the Award at the Discover Archaeology Live event at Olympia,
where Mellor was particlularly commended
for the high level of engagement of the community in our activities.
July 2008:
Ann Hearle was named the
NorthWest Heritage Hero in Nationwide Community and Heritage Awards at Salford's Lowry Centre, winning £500.00 for the Project. She went on to be just beaten in the National Finals at the Tower of London.
August 2008:
Marie Widger, our Community and Education Officer, succeeded in application for the Sandford Award for Heritage Education.
January 2010:
We were all thrilled that
John Hearle was finally recognised for his tireless and indefatigable work behind the scenes by his inclusion in the New Years Honours List to recieve an
MBE. Not only have he and Ann opening up their lovely garden but John also took on the task of setting up the Trust, bringing together representatives from all the local community groups, enlisting professional support and securing funding over a twelve year period to both ensure that the work would be carried out not only to the highest academic and professional standards but could also be run as a community project, involving as many people as possible.

Congratulations to Andy Coutts and Steve Milne
who have both been awarded their NVQ in Archaeology
through their work and studies on the Mellor Heritage Project.
February 2010
Yet another well deserved award as Ann and John were named Ambassadors for Stockport
in the Proud of Stockport Awards 2010.
July 2010 Mellor was given Highly Commended both in Best Project and Best Community Archaeology Project by the British Archaeological Awards
